Our Mission
Our mission is to create social change and foster innovation by providing capital to businesses that will create a positive impact in our society. In doing so, we hope to raise awareness about the value of social enterprises and impact investing on our campus.
Impact Investing
Our aim is to generate significant social and environmental outcomes, through investments in mission-focused early-stage companies, startups, and, small businesses. We hope to employ UCLA's undergraduate students with the tools to make sound investment decisions and think like a Venture Capitalist.
Education
Outside of providing Impact Investment knowledge to our analysts, we also aim to educate the greater UCLA community about what Impact Investing is through our monthly newsletter and other platforms to spread the word about how we can make a difference through capital.
Career Development
We will be teaching students the A-Z of social impact investing and the metrics that can be used to make investment decisions. Through professional events, training sessions, and hands-on experience, we aim to equip students with the knowledge needed to break into the Venture Capital and Microfinance industries.
Our Process
Sourcing
In order to effectively source a diverse range of startups, we attend various accelerator events to meet and hear pitches from entrepreneurs
Due Diligence
We then conduct due diligence to determine the profitability and social impact of the pitch
Scouting
As a scout for a number of VC firms, we provide our investment memos for our impact startups to our partners
Our Investment Verticals
Education
Incorporating technology in the vision of increasing access to high quality and affordable education, particularly amongst marginalized communities.
Environment
Promoting business ideas and practices that either directly or indirectly bring positive change to the environment and the mission for sustainability.
Tech
Harnessing the power of technology to address social issues that affect low income and marginalized communities, thereby contributing to tech for social good.
Healthcare
Supporting initiatives that aim to providing marginalized communities with access to quality healthcare, as well as lower healthcare
costs and alternatives where possible.
Social Justice
Fostering innovation that allows for greater efficacy and transparency in social justice, especially regarding modern social issues, among the younger generation.
Our investments are aimed at creating a pathway for businesses to innovate and succeed. We invest in mission-based businesses and startups for a short term through a convertible note with a low equity share, so that the business can scale on its own terms. Our ultimate goal is to aid businesses with their capital needs and their vision of realizing social impact.
